Title: Application of artificial intelligence in clinical dentistry: Current advances and future perspectives

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming clinical dentistry by enhancing diagnostic accuracy, improving treatment planning, and increasing overall efficiency in dental practice. This presentation provides a comprehensive overview of the current applications of artificial intelligence in clinical dentistry, with a particular focus on prosthodontics, orthodontics, implantology, and diagnostic oral medicine. Drawing on more than seven years of professional research experience and published literature, this talk synthesizes recent advancements, practical implementations, and future trends of AI-driven technologies in dental care. The presentation will discuss how machine learning algorithms, deep learning models, and large language models such as ChatGPT are being integrated into dental diagnostics, radiographic interpretation, treatment planning, and patient communication. Special attention will be given to AI-assisted interpretation of dental radiographs, prediction of implant success, orthodontic treatment simulations, and digital prosthodontic workflows. The role of AI in clinical research, including data analysis, clinical trial design, and systematic reviews, will also be addressed. In addition, this presentation highlights real-world case examples and outcomes from recent conferences and published research, demonstrating how AI tools can support clinicians in making evidence-based decisions while reducing human error. Ethical considerations, limitations, and challenges associated with AI adoption—such as data privacy, algorithm bias, and clinical validation—will also be discussed. The aim of this presentation is to bridge the gap between theoretical AI research and its practical application in daily dental practice. By the end of the session, attendees will gain a clear understanding of how artificial intelligence can be effectively utilized to improve patient outcomes, optimize workflows, and support future research and education in dentistry.
