Title: The importance of proper mechanics in dentistry: A bioesthetics approach

Abstract

Do you want to understand how tooth wear, gingival recession, fractures, and TMJ pain occur? This course will review jaw function and mechanics and how the teeth are directly affected by improper mechanics. The content of the course will reveal how the masticatory system thrives or breaks down depending on how the airway, chondylar alignment, and bite relate to each other. Methods to address the pathology of improper function will be introduced as taught in the Orognathic and Bioesthetic curriculum.

• Review of tooth morphology, tissue health, proper TMJ function, and airway

• Introducing the process of achieving Stable Chondylar position

• Diagnosis of the pathology causing the breakdown of the masticatory system

• Solutions for how to address the problems of tooth wear, bone and gum recession, TMJ pain and breakdown, and facial collapse

• Procedures to establish a stable masticatory system
